POSITION: Library Aid/NF-1411-01 SALARY: $15.00/ PH
EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Flexible (May be scheduled to work up to 40 hours weekly, May be required to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. No Group Benefits Included)
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Applications will be accepted from applicants within the local commuting area.
DUTIES: Perform one of more of the following: shelving books; performing simple circulation and reference duties; providing assistance to patrons and other members of library staff; charging out library materials; discharging library materials on return; maintaining record of overdue books; and preparing notice to borrower to return overdue library materials. Responsible for maintaining the rules associated with the use of the library. Perform a variety of clerical and manual library tasks. May assist library technician with technical support in acquiring, processing, distributing and disposing library materials, maintaining patron registration files, and/or retrieval of overdue library materials. Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have knowledge of established library practices and procedures, record keeping procedures, fundamental library reference sources such as encyclopedia, almanacs, dictionaries, etc., and ability to type at speed of approximately 30 words per minute. Must be able to comprehend and execute an alphanumerical arrangement, including numbers carried out to three decimal places. Applicant must have the ability to operate library equipment such as typewriter, computer, etc. Six months of experience is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIROMENT: The work is performed in an office setting, pleasant surroundings, well lighted, heated and air-conditioned. Work is mostly sedentary and involves some walking, stooping, bending, and bending for long periods of time to search for books on the shelves, and carry boxes of books, and climbing step ladder. Applicant must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods while preparing correspondence, reports, inputting data to data bases, and researching data.
NOTE: As a condition of employment, selectee(s) will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer within the first 60 days of employment. This is the DOD standard method of payment of personnel. Employees will be subject to administrative action for failure to enroll unless a waiver has been obtained. Must meet requirements for local & national background check investigations (NACI). Drug testing is a requirement for positions deemed a Test Designated Position (TDP).
