POSITION: Recreation Assistant/NF-0189-02 SALARY: $15.50 - 15.75/PH
EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Full Time (Scheduled to work 35-40 hours weekly. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Eligible for ALL group benefits.)
AREA OF CONSIDERATION AND CANDIDATE SEARCH: Applications will be accepted from CURRENT NASP Marina employees.
DUTIES: Incumbent prepares and maintains required administrative reports and forms, such as utilization data, financial forms, procurement forms and invoices. Maintains a current knowledge of daily operations of facility, answer questions from patrons. Performs other related duties as assigned for daily operations to include daily walk through of parking and dock areas, assisting customers to include collection of fees and completing retail sales transactions on a point of sale, receipt book, or cash register. Provides activities in aquatic settings and demonstrates safe use of equipment and techniques for various activities in a marina setting. Briefs customers on safety procedures and techniques for using rental gear and performing pre and post rental gear inspections. Maintains effective controls for receipt and safe keeping of all cash associated with the fees and sales of the Marina/Sailing Facility. Monitors use of supplies to assure internal controls and account ability are maintained. Ensures adherence to loss prevention for program resources, cash or pilfer able items. Maintains various contracts, files, regulations, manuals and directives related to marina operations. Prepares and reviews outgoing correspondences and reports ensuring proper for a. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Maintains and coordinates the master event schedule for all programs at the facility. Ensures that all changes are reported to their immediate supervisor. Responsible for ensuring that all events, program schedules and marina information are sent to the marketing office month and advertised. Assists management with administrative duties such as month end inventory, answering phones, signing up participants for programs, and other clerical duties. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer high school graduate with an interest in the areas of recreation. Should be responsible and able to follow written or oral instructions. Must have a neat appearance and a pleasing personality with the capacity for working effectively with all patrons. Knowledge of the goals, philosophy, principles, and methods of procedures used in organizing, planning, administrating and conducting facility operations. Experience in responsible clerical support work, which demonstrate ability to perform the work of the position under general supervision of the marina manager. Must possess specific knowledge of boating terminology, watercraft operation and maintenance, water and boating safety, handling of boats(launching mooring, etc.), boating equipment and facilities, and recreational boating activities
WORKING CONDITIONS: Constant standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work may be indoors and or outdoors, and may or may not be air conditioned/heated. Work outdoors may expose incumbent to prolonged periods of sunlight.
NOTE: As a condition of employment, selectee(s) will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer within the first 60 days of employment.
