EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Flexible (May be scheduled to work up to 40 hours weekly, May be required to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. No Group Benefits Included)

DUTIES Grills steaks, chops, poultry, pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, etc. by watching while the items are cooking; turning as required in the preparation of salads, desserts, juices, fruits, or other items as directed by higher grade cooks. Cooks cereal; makes beverages, toast, salads, and sandwiches. Prepares vegetables and fruits for serving, as directed.
Places cooked food in serving dishes in steam carts and food trucks. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The incumbent is frequently lifting objects weighing up to 30 pounds, constant standing and walking, and occasionally over 50 pounds. Works in warm and noisy kitchens. Exposed to steam, fumes and odors. Danger of falling, burns and cuts. Exposed to extreme temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have the ability to follow instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is acquired on the job.
NOTE: As a condition of employment, selectee(s) will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer within the first 60 days of employment. This is the DOD standard method of payment of personnel. Employees will be subject to administrative action for failure to enroll unless a waiver has been obtained. Must meet requirements for local & national background check investigations (NACI). Drug testing is a requirement for positions deemed a Test Designated Position (TDP).
